The Role
We are recruiting two experienced Commercial Sales Managers to help grow the commercial waste and recycling services. You will win and retain business, negotiate competitive contracts, maximise income, and support customers in meeting waste-management legislation. This is a senior interim opportunity for a commercially focused leader who can combine direct sales, account management, operational oversight and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new business through cold calling, direct sales and targeted retention activity.
- Negotiate new and existing commercial waste and recycling contracts.
- Grow market share, income and recycling activity while maintaining competitive pricing.
- Manage a varied customer portfolio and resolve service issues promptly.
- Lead, motivate and deploy staff to meet operational and commercial objectives.
- Monitor contracts, service performance, budgets, debt and management information.
- Work closely with operational, environmental, enforcement and debt recovery teams.
- Support compliance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and related legislation.
- Recommend and implement service improvements, trials and revised commercial offers.
- Prepare reports and provide professional advice to customers and senior officers.
About You
You will bring:
- Significant experience delivering commercial results in a business-focused environment.
- A strong track record in sales, contract negotiation, pricing and business development.
- Experience leading and motivating teams in a changing operational environment.
- Experience managing budgets, targets, performance and complex projects.
- Knowledge of commercial waste services and relevant environmental legislation.
- Strong customer service, problem-solving and written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to negotiate where interests conflict and work effectively with partners.
- Good numerical, reporting and IT skills.
- A relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent practical experience.
