Description
Our local government clients are recruiting a large goods vehicle driver. The ideal candidate should have previous experience driving a dustcart, preferably with a local authority and/or a waste services company. Drivers are required to help with loading and should have the ability to plot their route through the daily schedule. Candidates must be prepared to work flexibly (able to work beyond 2 pm contracted time to ensure all collections are completed) within a small team, ensuring rounds are completed promptly. Equally as important is the development of interpersonal skills over time to work well within a small, settled team of loaders and drivers. Manual Handling training would be provided.
Responsibility
Act as the lead operative with responsibility for the completion of all work allocated to the vehicle, safely and to a high standard. This will include directing other crew members on the car, always maintaining safe working practices—especially when reversing—and wearing personal protective equipment. Report any issues with crew performance, conduct or adherence to health and safety to the Supervisor, including any supporting evidence, at the earliest opportunity. A driver assistance skill would be a plus, although training could be provided if needed.
