- Pay rate: £321.53 per day via Umbrella
About the role
Lead complexes pay, reward, job evaluation and equal pay work in a highly governed, unionised public-sector environment.
You will ensure decisions are consistent, evidence-based, equitable and compliant with Council policy, legislation, governance requirements and financial constraints.
You will support the Head of Pay, Reward and Performance, manage equal pay risk and provide direction and quality assurance to Pay and Reward Consultants and Officers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead complex job evaluation, grading and appeal cases.
- Advise managers, HR colleagues, senior stakeholders and trade unions.
- Apply job evaluation frameworks and pay policies consistently.
- Oversee pay, reward, payroll, equal pay audits and assurance activity.
- Support organisational change through job design, pay modelling and labour market research.
- Analyse workforce and pay data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Support governance panels and review arrangements.
- Coordinate, coach and quality-assure Pay and Reward Consultants and Officers.
- Identify and mitigate legal, operational and financial risks.
About you
You will bring strong expertise in job evaluation, NJC pay frameworks, equal pay legislation, audits and related legal and financial risk.
Essential experience and qualifications
- CIPD Level 5–7, or equivalent professional experience.
- Significant pay, reward and job evaluation experience in a complex organisation.
- Knowledge of multiple job evaluation schemes and pay frameworks.
- Experience managing workloads and complex or high-risk pay cases.
- Public-sector and heavily unionised-environment experience.
- Experience leading job evaluation and appeals with stakeholders and trade unions.
- Strong analysis, data interpretation and professional judgement.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
